The British Government has decided to maintain European student loans for the academic year 2020/2021

Students in the EU who start their studies in the UK in the 2020/21 academic year will have the same status as before and will be eligible for financial support during university and postgraduate studies. Study loans will continue to be granted, regardless of whether Brexit will take place. The announcement was made yesterday in Brussels by Chris Skidmore, the UK university minister.The announcement follows the UK government's current commitment to funding studies for EU citizens starting in England in the academic year 2019/20.
The latest admission data in 2019 shows that over 37,000 EU students have applied for full-time bachelor courses in England, with a 1.9% increase over the previous year.
"We appreciate the importance of the contribution of international students, including those in the EU, to our universities. It is important to say that although we have chosen to leave the EU, we do not leave Europe, and our universities are developing on the model of the diversity of global institutions. We know that many young people are considering their university choices for next year, which is why we now confirm that EU citizens will continue to receive unchanged school fees and will be able to access financial support for the academic year 20/21 " , the British official said.
The study loan granted by the UK is £ 9,250
"The British official's statement was awaited by the thousands of young people who go abroad to study abroad each year, and the time is well-suited for those who are planning to follow this academic path to be able to make a secure financial projection for the coming years. Thus, European students will be able to continue to benefit from up to 9,250 pounds for licensing programs and 10,000 pounds for master programs, with these schemes currently benefiting more than 90% of Romanian students leaving there " , says Ana Maria Papp, Department Manager, IntegralEdu.
The British Government's decision comes less than a month after the Government of Wales has decided to increase the loan for young people who want to pursue a master's program in the academic year 2019-2020. The amount of borrowed amount now stands at £ 17,000, which can cover the cost of studies (between 4,000 and 12,000 pounds), but also spending on accommodation, food or pocket money.
